About Us — Vision, Mission & Content Focus
Mission
SDG5 Uganda was founded in Sweden🇸🇪, in June 2024, to recognize and acknowledge the often-overlooked empowering voices, actions, and stories of inspiring individuals worldwide.
Vision:
A prosperous Uganda thanks to universal respect and support for the rights of every woman and girl to reach her full potential. A leading country where everyone is aware that discrimination and violence against women and girls are unacceptable and takes direct action against it whenever and wherever such rare behavior occurs. Women and girls lead and participate in decision-making at all levels, their voices contributing to shaping a world-class innovative environment, educated population, and sustainable development in a peaceful, equitable, and inclusive Uganda.
Content Focus
SDG5 Uganda is a dynamic online magazine/blog dedicated to amplifying the voices and stories of empowerment across Uganda and the world. We offer a diverse range of content, including news, interviews, opinion pieces, and success stories, that cater to a broad audience. Our primary focus and unique approach involves exploring the role of pluralistic ignorance and offering insightful “reality-checks” that challenge prevailing assumptions and promote a deeper understanding of the complexities surrounding gender equality.

Embrace the power of empathy
Something I've observed over the years is how most "get-rich-quick" seekers neglect the importance and role of empathy in "success."

The basics: Pluralistic Ignorance — how does it present itself?
Pluralistic ignorance is a situation in which a minority position on a given topic is wrongly perceived to be the majority position.

Language as a Tool of Power, Control, Limitations, and Self-censorship
Language shapes our identities, influences our opportunities, and contributes to the broader social and cultural landscape.

“The historical roots of feminism can be traced back to the late 18th century”
Did feminism originate in the "West" and then spread to the rest of the world? Yes, if you erase most of history.
